Ryan J. Medeiros is an artist, designer, and instructor at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco. He has a Bachelors degree in Fine Art from the University of California, Santa Cruz. Ryan got his design career started as an interactive designer at Primo Angeli Inc. in San Francisco. He designed and maintained the Primo Angeli Inc. web site from 1996-1998. He was also involved in design for interactive client projects such as CD-ROMs, online presentations and websites.

As a freelance designer and entrepreneur, Ryan owned and operated a three-person interactive design studio in downtown San Francisco between 1998-2001. His firm designed corporate identity, promotional materials, and web sites for clients including Real Skateboards, Future Farmer Recordings, and Baywell Technologies.

Ryan is currently teaching part-time at the Academy of Art University, in the Graduate Computer Arts/New Media department. He teaches Typography for Digital Masters, an interactive design class with an emphasis on typography for navigation, legibility and usability. Ryan also advises students in independent study and sits on student midpoint and final review committees.

After ten years of commercial design, Ryan has recently returned to making fine art. He has two ongoing fine art series which combine his computer graphics background with conventional art techniques. His artwork is influenced by early experiments in cartooning and graffiti, and his current occupation as a graphic designer, and instructor. Ryan's fine art deals with the subjectivity of representation in today's Information Age
